How big of a hard drive can I place on a desktop that maxes out at 1 GB RAM?

I've got a Dell Dimension 2350 and I was thinking about reusing it as a media center. Housing music and pictures and the like. I know the desktop caps at 1 GB RAM and I know I can get 2 TB hard drives for under $100. Now my dilemma is that I'm a techie nub and don't know if 1 GB RAM is close to reasonable for 2 TB of hard drive. Should I set my sights lower or can I get away with it? Will anything explode?
